Ian joined Cobden House in 2010 after many years as a solicitor and partner in a major Insurance firm in the North West acting for Claimants and Defendants.
He is an Insurance law specialist dealing in all aspects of personal injury work including Employer’s Liability, Public Liability and RTA as well as dealing with aspects of Public law and Inquests. He regularly deals with cases ranging across the board in terms of complexity and value and has considerable experience in dealing with CRU and CICA appeals.
Ian also acts in commercial claims and is regularly instructed by insurers.
Ian also has considerable experience in dealing with motorcycle accident claims.
Over many years Ian has gathered extensive experience appearing for interested parties at Inquests across the country ranging from those dealing with deaths arising out of an RTA to lengthy Inquests involving death in custody in which article 2 of the Human Rights Act is invoked.
As a former solicitor Ian embraces Cobden House Chambers’ ethos that members are happy to discuss cases over the telephone or by email on an informal basis often without the need for formal instructions. He recognises that an ongoing relationship between solicitor and counsel is crucial to the effective presentation of a case. He also understands the pressures that solicitors work under and undertakes to turn round written work quickly.
