Marc Willems QC has secured Court approval for a £12m settlement in a cerebral palsy case against the MPS representing a General Practitioner. The matter was listed for a liability and causation trial in the Royal Courts of Justice to be heard this June but was compromised at a Mediation in May 2022 and received Court approval from Mr Justice Freedman for the settlement on a lump sum basis on Friday 10th June 2022. Marc was instructed by Lesley Herbertson of Potter Rees Dolan Solicitors. The case involved considerable breach of duty issues as well as very significant causation issues relating to the timing of when pneumococcal infection crossed the blood brain barrier causing pneumococcal meningitis. The settlement resolves a long legal battle and an even longer 17 year battle for the Claimant and his parents.
