Nick Flanagan Represents NHS England in Inquests into Former Patients of Ian Paterson

Cobden House Chambers’ barrister Nick Flanagan, instructed by Sara Lyle of Capsticks, represents NHS England in the extensive inquests regarding the deaths of former patients surgeon Ian Paterson. These inquests seek to address crucial questions and concerns surrounding patient safety, medical oversight, and accountability.

The inquests are divided into several modules, with Module One currently underway. This initial phase focuses on general issues and the broader concerns raised by healthcare professionals, patients, and families. Over time, the inquests will shift to examine the details of each individual case, supported by evidence from a multi-disciplinary team who reviewed the affected cases.

Module One is expected to last about a year, after which further modules will delve into additional regulatory and procedural questions.

The entire inquest process is anticipated to span approximately two years, depending on the scope and potential inclusion of additional cases.
