Satpal Roth- Sharma, specialising in serious crime, fraud, and regulatory matters, recently represented a defendant accused of conspiring to supply Class A drugs at Preston Crown Court. In a strategic move, she successfully argued to exclude late expert interpretation evidence from the case, leaving the Prosecution facing difficulties in proving their matter. The Learned Judge, acknowledging the challenges, urged the Prosecution to review their position overnight on the first day of the 5-day trial.
Additionally, the Crown sought to advance earlier summarised evidence that was not impartial. Using her legal expertise, Roth-Sharma successfully argued to have this evidence excluded as well. As a result, on the second day of what was supposed to be a 5-day trial, the Crown offered no evidence, leading to a not guilty verdict recorded against the defendant.
